Privacy Policy
Last updated 9 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data Snout collects, why, and what rights you have. Snout is a service provided by Codeaxis Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15689322). In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Codeaxis Ltd, and "you" means the person or business using Snout.
Who we are
Codeaxis Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can contact us about privacy at support@usesnout.com. Our registered office address is available on request and on the Companies House public register.
What we collect
- Account data: your name, email address and workspace name.
- Business data you enter: business name, town, category and website.
- Prompts and results: the buyer-intent queries tied to your account and the answers, citations and competitor names we collect from the AI assistants when those queries run.
- Free scan data: the business name, town and category you enter, and, if you request the full report, your email address.
- Payment data: handled by Stripe. We store a customer reference and your subscription status. We do not store card numbers.
- Technical data: aggregated, cookieless usage statistics (via Vercel Web Analytics) and standard server logs such as IP address and request time, used for security and rate limiting.
How we use your data
- To provide the service: run the weekly checks and show your results.
- To send the weekly report and score-drop alerts.
- To send account email such as sign-in codes and billing notices.
- To take payment and manage your subscription.
- To provide support and to keep the service secure.
- To improve the product using aggregated, non-identifying analysis.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
Legal bases
Under UK GDPR we rely on: performance of a contract (operating your account and running your scans); our legitimate interests (product improvement, security, preventing abuse of the free scan, and responding to a free scan you asked us to run); consent where the law requires it; and legal obligation (for example, keeping invoice records).
We send transactional email (sign-in codes, weekly reports, alerts and billing) through Google Workspace, from support@usesnout.com. The weekly report is part of the service; you can stop it by adjusting your settings or cancelling your subscription.
Sub-processors
We use a small number of service providers to run Snout. Each only processes data as needed to provide its part of the service:
- Vercel (hosting and cookieless analytics)
- Supabase (database)
- Upstash (job queue and cache)
- Stripe (payments)
- Google Workspace (email)
- OpenAI, Perplexity and Google, reached through the Vercel AI Gateway (running your prompts and returning answers)
Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and business data, including your scan history, for as long as your account is active. Keeping history is the point of the product. When you close your account, we delete your business data and scan history within 30 days, except records we are required to keep for legal reasons (for example, invoices, which we keep for six years). Free scan records are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on it. To exercise any of these, email support@usesnout.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Our analytics is cookieless. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, so there is no cookie consent banner.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Snout is a business tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or with a notice on the site before it takes effect.
